The list is chosen when steps or elements are important. The table is when objects have the same fields and the reader needs to compare. The chart should not be a way to level text or draw a page layout.

Choose a form of information
Marked List
Needed for a set of equal objects: materials, participants, sources.
Numbered list
It's necessary when order changes the result: instruction, algorithm, plan of experience.
Table
Needed for records with the same fields: date, participant, result, comment.

Check the list levels.
Level 1 begins a new point. Level 2 reveals the previous point. In the correct list, you cannot start with Level 2 or jump over the level.

Column headings explain what the values mean. Units of measurement indicate in or near the heading.

The first line has all the columns.
Units of measure are specified for the values.
One cell has one meaning, not a few unrelated facts.

Typical error
Gaps for Equalization
Don't level the columns with dozens of spaces: in another font, scale, or device, everything will move. Use tabulation, table, or paragraph settings depending on the task.
